While at OHare, Shelia had to relieve herself before the 7 hour flight to London
Excitement in the airport as we learned that our standby tickets would turn out to be seats in business first class
Unfortunately the airline took away one of the business seats. Betsy graciously went to coach so that Jane and I could experience the comfort and attention. Before take off betsy joined us as we drank our preflight glass of wine. After take off there was more wine and warm mixed nuts. Then dinner started with salad and a plate of prosciutto and melon. Main dishes were stuffed pasta for me and a fillet of beef for jane and more wine. First desert was a plate if three delicious cheeses, crackers, grapes and a biscuit. We turned down the later desert of ice cream sundaes because we were just too full. They took betsy a sundae made to her specs in coach.
After dinner and a movie, we reclined our seats flat and tried for a short nap.
Once at heathrow, we headed for the tube to take us to Earl Court station which is near our hotel
We dropped our suitcases at the hotel way too early to check in (plane landed at 5:30) and we walked to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Just before arriving at there we passed this gigantic Natural History Museum.
At the V&A museum, one current exhibit had to do with protest.
Waiting for the museum to open at 10, jane and betsy needed to make a phone call...no Dr. Who in the Tardis...
Steps in front of the V&A
Mandy, our exceptional guide, talking about armor used for jousting. Much different than that used in battle
The ladies bathroom had great art. This is the wall and ceiling
Lunch in the museum was gorgeous and tasted pretty good
While getting our tube pass, we met Zachary who got excited to learn I was from Wisconsin. He loves the Packers
