Numbers were drawn on the bus, so we would take turns picking our baskets and beaded pieces. Apparently there have been spats over who gets to buy each piece. I got 8.
A road sign on the way to the Zulu basket makers. We turned right
A rather dangerous road situation. The paved road is about 3 lanes wide. The car in front of us was riding the left so we could pass. The car meeting us had to go to the side of the road so there was room for us in the middle.
To get to the Zulu basket maker we passed through this game park. Notice the things you can't do here
Travel at your own risk
The last sign cautions about elephants.
This obelisk is outside this game park
When we arrived at the home of the main basket maker, this girl was outside dressed in her best.
This is dave from New York City with the basket his wife selected for him to buy.
Margaret from Perth, Australia as how's off her two choices
Two if the Zulu women who also weave. They are daughter and nice if the main weaver Angeline who is famous world wide.
Me with the maker of this basket I bought
Me with the weaver of the second basket I bought
An aware that Angeline had received.
After lunch at our new hotel we went on a pontoon ride to see water critters
The best part was the hippos
This is the roots of the mangrove trees. They send up these roots all over to hold the soil together and to get air
These mangrove trees lined the shore of the river. We saw hippo tracks going into the grove.
We were supposed to have our boat back by dark. We pretty much made it.
Good night!
