Monday in Vienna

Because it was Sunday, the tourist office was closed so we could buy the tourist passes we wanted, so jordan and I went out and about on our own.

First stop was St Stephens right in the main square.
I know it looks like the steeple is tipping over, but that's the only way we could get the whole church in the picture.
This lace collage was hanging in the front of the church

We walked to the parliament, city hall, etc and stopped by the city had where a skating rink had been set up.  Lots of locals enjoying a bit of skating

There many food stands.  We chose the spƤtzle.  I had a spinach one and jordan had a cheese one.  Of course we shared
 It was a beautiful day.

Our next stop was a museum of modern art that had a new exhibit Jordan wanted to see.  We ended up spending the whole afternoon there.  It had 4 floors above the ground the three below.  The exhibits theme was breaking barriers.
This piece of 'art' made us laugh.  It is a squirrel that got run over by a road stripe painter.

While wandering the city we found tickets for a concert of Mozart and Strauss  for that night given in the Augsburg palace.  Sounded like Vienna to me so we got tickets. It was a small orchestra - 5 violins, a cello, one bass, a piano.  Also several numbers included an opera singer or two ballet dancers. A beautiful taste of Vienna.
