Sunday, August 10 kapama lodge

We arrived at the lodge for lunch. Our first game drive would be from 4-7 pm we ride in Toyota land rovers with three rows of seats. Going back each row is raised a bit like in a theater. This impala was one of our first sightings. We have a spotter who sits on a high seat on the front of the vehicle.

This is a wart hog. We had wart hog ribs for dinner last night, but our guide who eats dinner with us said it was not from the game reserve. The reserve we are on is 33,000 acres. There is no supplemental feeding or health care unless a disease threatens the whole system

After dark we found a pride if 13 lions. The spotter had a light which he used so we could see the lions. We were actually quite close.

When we arrived here, we were greeted with wet green cloths to wipe our hands. This gentleman collected them

3 o'clock tea served before the game drive. We will have a total of 6 drives. Three from 6:30-9:30 am and three from 4-7pm. It gets dark about 5:30. Remember it's the end of winter here.

I have received no emails here. It's weird, I can post to the blog and see that emails are coming, but as yet the messages do not download.
