Tuesday, August 20, Eschow Roarks Drift

Today we were on the way to Roarks Drift. A drift is a place where you can cross a river. On the way we stopped at the Vukani Zulu Cultural Museum. It houses a collection of traditional Zulu baskets and ceramics. As we left our hotel in the morning I took a picture of gloria, Marilyn, Joke (not what you think, she is Dutch. It's pronounced yoke-a.) and our bus driver Jim. He is great.

Part of the breakfast buffet. We could also go to the hot buffet where they would fix you anything you wanted.

A car in the hotel parking lot shows some US presence here.

Also on the grounds was a fort built by the British

Zulu shields

Back on the highway we passed these three women. They probably have sticks in the bags which they will use for cooking. They really can balance anything on their head.

A collection of Zulu huts from the bus. Each grouping has one hut for the grandmother, one for first wife, one for second wife, etc and one for teenagers

More Zulu huts. They are everywhere. Fascinating!
